New Email Scam
There’s a new scam going around that would terrify most people if it ever landed in their inbox.
This is affecting email users making you a target.
They are targeting email accounts and utilizing infected attachments or links to gain access.
This is a recent attack and you need to proceed with caution.
They are utilizing password botch hackers, key loggers and insecure websites to capture weak email passwords and gain access to accounts.
The hackers are going through your emails, pulling sensitive information and using this to exploit you. They are requesting you pay a ransom or threatening to send embarrassing info to your friends and contacts.
WHAT TO DO:
Currently this is only being done to exploit for monetary gain. There is no evidence of stolen or missing information.
We highly recommend changing easy to guess or passwords that haven’t been changed recently.
A stronger password strategy includes:
- Minimum of 8 Characters
- Combination of Upper & Lower Case Letters
- Number and Special Characters
- No Words of Personal Info
